MarsEdit 2

I just upgraded to version 2.0 of Daniel Jalkut’s MarsEdit, the best desktop blogging software out there. Pretty nice! If you’re not already a MarsEdit user, you should be. The media manager features are pretty nice, and while I’m not a big Flickr user anymore the integration looks pretty tight. One little gripe is that the status bar at the base of the main window should probably auto-hide when I hide the list of weblogs at the left, but that’s a triviality really..

One potentially interesting feature for MarsEdit might be Facebook integration. Much of the hype around the Facebook platform revolves around the embedded web applications of course, but users still need a way to get data into the cloud… No idea if there’s much overlap in the two market segments, of course — the millions who keep busy all day on the social networks tend to require permission from their parents before installing software. Anyhoo..

I don’t really have anything else to say today other than I made a really great herb-crusted roast rack of lamb tonight. The butcher over at Bristol Farms sold Annika the cutest little 0.97lb frenched rack — eye opening for me, since rack of lamb usually conjures up images of huge slabs of meat on a fancy French silver platter with little paper chefs’ hats on the bones. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it can be a lot for a weeknight dinner — this smaller cut cooked in just under 15 minutes, with a two-minute sear on either side and 10 minutes in the oven at 450F.
