Click of Death

The 60GB Seagate in Annika’s MacBook died today. A nice, slow click indicated to us that any data that we hadn’t backed up (which was unfortunately more than we’d like) was lost.

Strangely, Seagate’s website indicates that model ST96812AS, serial 3PJ1EDB8 is not eligible for a warranty replacement, despite that the drive itself is just over a year old. Is this some odd OEM thing?

Central Computer on 5th and Howard here in the city is one of the few retail computer stores in the world that doesn’t suck. (Now that Fry’s sucks, there may be only a handful left)
