To a die-hard Windows programmer at work who asked, “what’s programming on the Mac like?”:
It’s as though you have .NET 3 on every machine, only it’s been shipping since ‘99, and you program in something like Smalltalk, only it’s fast, and in your installer, you can replace files without having to reboot.

Considering I code in both, among other languages/environments, I can totally agree. Don’t get me wrong, in a lot of ways, the C# language is actually a decent thing… it made a lot of improvements over Java, but it’s still too verbose… Python is much nicer. Obj-C runs much faster and while it’s a little harder to get the hang of, all said and done, there is a definite level of elegance that .Net just can’t touch. And the fact that you don’t have to deal with rebooting, etc. is great.
