Indead I too believe that the most outspoken critics of Macheist have taken an approach not going any deeper then the financial side.

The developers of these bundles have powers too. For instance the MacHeist TextMate key will NOT update to the next major release of TextMate. While a key bought directly from MacroMates will upgrade. Atlease that's what I've read on the MacHeist forums.

I myself did not buy a bundle because there were too many unknowns for me. I could not figure out what I was exactly buying. Sure the apps are great in the bundle. But who needs a bunch of apps of which half of the I probably won't use a lot and are perhaps crippled in their license or key?

Anyway I do think this whole deal is a worthwhile effort. The MacHeist went around the globe, I've read tons of posts and forum topics about it. Even co-workers mentioned it to me. And I'm someone living in europe. So I guess these guys atleast did get loads of exposure. And the whole upgrade/update business will create some revenue which the developers would not have had otherwise.

MacHeist is a prime example of why accounting and marketing are two different professions.
